7 Steps To Turning On Instagram Traffic For Your Online Business

Instagram is one of the Internet's giants when it comes to traffic, and if you know how to use the site right you can get a ton of that traffic into your own business.

You can literally make that traffic flow to anything you want…

Your lead capture (squeeze) pages, sales pages, blog posts, affiliate links, and anything else you have that you want to put in front of people.

But let's face it… You can't just post “whatever” and get a ton of traffic. You have to know how to use Instagram and what you need to do so that you can get all of the traffic you possibly can.

Bottom line… If you're not using Instagram correctly you are wasting your time! 😭

So today I want to give you a quick Instagram strategy that you can start using right now to funnel the traffic on Instagram into YOUR business.

Let's go through this step-by-step…

Step 1: Know And Understand How Instagram Works

Now this step seems obvious, but I see a lot of people who are struggling with Instagram and their biggest problem is they don't truly understand how Instagram works.

Yes it's ANOTHER social media site, but every social media site works a bit different, and has different areas. With Instagram you have regular posts, Stories, Reels, and IGTV. You need to make sure that you understand the purpose of each of these areas and which ones you will use.

HINT: I highly recommend you use and get good at each area individually before you move on to a different area. Figure out just posting on Instagram first, then maybe move on to stories, and then IGTV, and finally Reels.

Once you understand how Instagram works and decided on what areas of it you will focus on then it's time to move on to Step 2…

Step 2: Have An Optimized Profile

99% of the time when someone tells me they aren't getting any traffic from Instagram, I go to their profile, and right away I see why. There profile isn't optimized! You have to setup your Instagram profile correctly or you will NEVER see any traffic.

Here's a quick run down of what you need to do with your account…

1. Make sure you're using a Business Account.

2. Include keywords in the Name section. Use your main keyword here.

3. Make sure you username is your name or your brand/company name.

Hint: You should be using the same username on ALL social media sites for you/brand/company. Example: I use liztomey for my main marketing brand, and every account I have that's my username.

4. Have a profile picture that is YOU or your logo.

5. Your bio needs to have a few things in it, and you have very little space to get it all in. Your main keyword, your main hashtag, exactly the solution you provide, and a strong call to action are all important. You've got to work to get this all in your little bio.

6. A link! This is going to be different for everyone and will depend on your strategy.

ALL of those things are important to your profile and of course there's a lot more that goes into each thing, but those are the things that you need to focus on.

In the Instagram Traffic Takeover Workshop I cover optimizing your profile, so if you'd like to learn this important step make sure you grab a seat in this workshop at https://www.LearningIM.com/InstagramWorkshop

Step 3: Have A Hashtag Strategy

Hashtags are the #1 way people will find your posts on Instagram. You've got to know which ones to use, how many to use, when, where, and how often.

If you don't have a complete hashtag strategy you will NEVER get traffic from Instagram. This is a vital piece of the puzzle, so make sure you get this down, and you continually work on it.

YES! Your hashtag strategy is always in development. πŸ™‚

In the Instagram Traffic Takeover Workshop I show you my exact hashtag strategy and how you can develop your own from scratch. I developed this from lots of trial and error and it works really well! If you'd like to learn my strategy then come join me in this workshop at https://www.LearningIM.com/InstagramWorkshop

Step 4: Know And Understand Instagram Content

Now of course there's only images and videos that can be posted to Instagram. You can add a caption with text, but people are on Instagram to SEE.

For my LizTomey.com brand I focus on motivational content, educational content, and bonding content.

I use image/video quotes, memes (images and videos), gorgeously designed graphics to promote my blog content and other money makers, pictures and videos of my daily life, etc.

And each piece of content has a goal!

Sometimes it's to advertise something that makes me money. Sometimes it's to allow my followers to get to know me, sometimes it's content JUST to get more followers.

You need to decide what kind of content you will use and have a goal for every piece of content that you post on Instagram.

And, YES!, I do cover the different types of content, creating content, and what to use the different types of content for in the Instagram Traffic Takeover Workshop πŸ™‚

Step 5: Use The RIGHT Automation Strategy

It's only been in the last few months that I've started using automation in my Instagram traffic strategy.

Why?

Because Instagram cracked down big time on autoposting to their site. There are only certain companies who provide automation solutions and are authorized and comply with Instagram.

If you're not using the right automation solution in the right way then you will never see much traffic from Instagram, AND even worse you could get banned totally.

Automation is the key to saving a ton of time on your Instagram strategy, but be very careful with using automation!

Step 6: Work Daily To Get Followers

This is the BIG thing. Your followers are where MOST of your traffic is going to come from and besides hashtags there are many other ways to get followers on Instagram.

The bad thing… Many of those ways get you “bad followers”. People who never interact with you and will never spend money in your business.

You want followers that like your content, comment on your content, come into your business, and spend money with you. I mean it's great to have a ton of followers. That number looks great, but if it's JUST a number then what is it doing for your business?

Nothing!

You want to use tactics that get you REAL followers that are going to do things to make you money! I have a whole arsenal of tactics I use and I'll be sharing them all in the Instagram Traffic Takeover Workshop.

The main thing you need to understand is there are more tactics than just using hashtags to build a good strong following, AND you don't have to have a HUGE following to get results!

Step 7: Have A Day To Day Instagram Plan

Last, but most importantly… Getting traffic from Instagram is NOT a set it and forget it kind of thing.

You have to work daily (even if it's only 15-20 minutes) to keep getting traffic from Instagram.

Creating content, posting content, using your hashtag strategy, using other strategies to get more followers, interacting with your followers, are all things you will need to do, and by having a daily strategy you can get it all done quickly and in a way that keeps tons of traffic coming into your business.

Okay… So I kept this as short as possible and of course there's a lot more that goes into each step, but at least this little guide will get you started on the right path and show you what you need to know to get started with getting traffic from Instagram.

If you'd like to learn every part of this, and see how I'm using Instagram to get traffic into my business so you can do the same thing I invite you to participate in my Instagram Traffic Takeover Workshop at https://www.LearningIM.com/InstagramWorkshop

I cover all 7 of these steps and more in this workshop (and MORE), and by the time you go through it (5 easy daily lessons) you will be an Instagram expert and have all the know how to use Instagram to create a never ending stream of traffic into your business!

https://www.LearningIM.com/InstagramWorkshop

I wish you much success on your Instagram journey. Not only can you get a TON of traffic with a good Instagram traffic strategy, but it's so much fun too!

How I Post To ALL My Social Media Accounts

The other day I did a video showing you my first step on my journey to automate my social media posting.

Until the last few months I've been VERY anti social media software. I still am for the most part, but there are a few tools out there that are reputable and actually work.

Listen… You've got to be super careful what software you're using to post to your social media accounts. If the developer/owner isn't 100% following the rules for EACH of the social media sites they post to your posts may never get seen and you could even lose your account.

So I've preached and preached to stay away from them… PERIOD!

However I know a few that have great relationships with these social media companies and are following all the rules and regulations to a T!

If you missed that video you can see it at https://youtu.be/Rzo2Yv2hszk

In that video I told you guys I would do a bonus video if you wanted me to showing exactly how I use these two tools to make posts. You can use them for scheduling and everything. Imagine being able to sit down in ONE day and schedule ALL of your social media posts. You can. πŸ™‚

You guys asked that I do this follow up video, so here it is!

I'm showing you my social media posting ritual for one off promotional posting. You can also schedule too, but in this video specifically I'm just showing how I post to all my social media channels for ONE niche.

Check it out, and if you have questions on how to do this please leave them in the comments at https://youtu.be/HLLhYp09hPY

There's nothing for sale here. I'm just educating you guys on my NEW social media journey. To help me out on YouTube please like the video, subscribe to my channel, and/or share the videos for me. I'd REALLY appreciate it. Most of you stay pretty quiet, and it helps me be a better teacher when I hear from you, so let's get more social. πŸ™‚

Okay… That's it for today. I'm working on a new “ready to go” tool for you guys, AND I have a new workshop I'll be launching, so keep your eye on your email. We're 10 days from the end of the first month of 2021 and there's still so much to come!

Talk soon!

A Ton Of Traffic Strategies For Blog Owners

Currently I'm in the middle of doing the live Blog Marketing Kickstart Workshop. We've only got one more day left, and today (Day 4) we're talking about how to drive traffic using your blog.

We've talked about a lot of different blog marketing tactics, but I wanted to devote an entire day just to the traffic tactics you can use when you have a blog.

As I was creating a resource for my students I was thinking I wanted to have a page where I could list what I covered, but also have a page that I could continually update. You can't update a PDF document on the fly, but you can a blog post. So I decided to give them all the below strategies in a nice little PDF document and then directed them here to get the updates I'll be doing.

And since I love all my people (even those of you who didn't join this workshop… I see you. πŸ™‚Β  ) I'm even giving you access.

So here are the strategies I've taught so far. Some will make sense to you if you haven't gone through the workshop, but some to understand you'll need to have gone through the workshop. You can get access to the workshop by clicking here.

So take a look, use what you can, and I'll update this as I add more strategies.

Enjoy!

1. SEO – This is a BIG time consuming strategy that I only use on small niche sites. If it's not easy to rank in the search engines for keywords then I don't put a lot of time or effort into SEO. It's too risky for my tastes, BUT if you're not scared to lose the traffic from all of your work this is a strategy that DOES work.

2. Social Marketing – This is by far my favorite marketing strategy when it comes to your blog. Create great content, post it to your social media accounts. That's easy. The hard part is building a following on each of these networks. It can be done though and it's worth the time and effort. Plus… It's fun.

3. Share Buttons – Adding share buttons to your blog is quick and easy with a plugin and a great way to get more traffic to your content. Get people to share your content on their favorite social media network and get traffic from their efforts.

4. Guest Blogging – Writing for other blogs in your niche is a great way to get traffic from those blogs. Search for blogs in your niche, see if they accept guest bloggers, if not inquire, create great content, they publish it, you get traffic. There's a lot more that goes into this, but this strategy is worth the effort!

5. Interacting – Interacting where the people in your niche “hangout” online is a great way to get traffic to your site. Most places your people are hanging out allow you to have some kind of profile. Make sure you're linking to your blog in your profile so people can find it if they go searching for more information about you.

Forums, Facebook groups, Reddit, (other social media networks) Quora, etc are all great places to get started, but constantly be on the lookout for places where the people in your niche hangout.

6. Blog About Others – This is a great tactic that can do many different things for you including getting traffic. You simply pick a topic related to your niche, find blog posts related to that topic (5-10 posts are all you need) that are REALLY good, and create a blog post on your blog pointing to these posts.

Many people have “alerts” that tell them when their blog is mentioned on another blog and/or they have Google alerts for their name and will see when you do this.

However you should go the extra mile and contact them personally to let them know. You can do that via email or social media. When I have done this in the past I will post a link to the blog post on Facebook and tag those I've featured. That works AWESOME!

Use this tactic sparingly though. You can wear it out fast.

7. Pay To Play – There are many ways to pay for advertising for your blog posts. There are services out there like Blog Pros, banner advertising, solo ads, and even using social media paid advertising will get traffic to your blog posts QUICKLY!

I recommend taking a post that has proven to get interaction (comments, feedback, lots of views, etc.) and use paid advertising to take it even further.

8. Contests – Contests have been used to drive traffic almost since the Internet began. Now with all the technology to do these you have a lot of options. I highly recommend you do your own research on the best tools to run a contest, and then host a “share contest” with your people to get a piece of content shared everywhere. This will bring in quite a bit of traffic.

Here's an example I'm about to do…

I have a great blog post showcasing email templates people can buy to use in their email marketing. I plan to have a share contest and will randomly pick someone who shares the post as the winner. The winner will get every resource on the page for free as their prize.

That example is the most basic contest you can run and it works REALLY well! As I said you have a lot of options when it comes to using contests. Do your research, see what others are doing, investigate tools, and start using contests on your blog to drive traffic.

9. Viral Posts – Getting a post to go viral isn't the easiest thing in the world, but it can be done. The content for this tactic must be phenomenal and generally it needs to be a tutorial or a step-by-step process to get something done. Using an infographic to SHOW the process is a huge key too. People LOVE infographics and they share them A LOT.

There are other types of content that can go viral too, but it's hit or miss with this tactic. If you can get something to go viral though you can get A LOT of traffic!

More tactics are coming soon…

The Big List Of Email Template Resources

I talk a lot about email marketing. How powerful it is, how to use it, etc… But the biggest thing I preach is that you have to be constantly learning about it.

You need to know the fundamentals and then you need to keep learning new strategies and using them on your lists.

The best way to do this is to use other people's email templates. I buy every single email template package I can get my hands on for this reason. It allows me to not only learn, but every time I go to write an email I go to my folder full of these templates, poke around, and before long one hits me and I'm off and using it.

I've created this post so I can give you an updated resource page of the best email templates out there. Some are just subject line templates, but most are full on email template packages that you can use for various things…

Sales emails, affiliate marketing emails, welcome sequences, and everything in between.

Take a look at the resources, grab what you need and come back here anytime you're ready for some new email templates to power your email marketing.

Here we go…

My Email Templates – Of course I've got to kick this list off with my own personal email templates package. πŸ™‚ This is a massive package giving you 13 different template sequences. See it at http://www.MyEmailTemplates.com

Email Game Plan – This is a killer little product. You get 12 different email campaigns that you can use to create your own email campaigns. And these aren't just garbage thrown together. These are proven winning campaigns! See it at http://www.LizTomey.com/EmailGamePlan

1107 Subject Lines – Subject lines are curtail to getting people to open your emails. This is a MASSIVE subject line swipe file that I have used over and over and over again! See it at http://www.ThisKicksButt.com/1107EmailSubjectLines

IM Emails – Kevin Fahey is one of the biggest known marketers in the Internet Marketing industry and he has taken over 400 of his personal emails and put them in a cool little software that allows you to search through them, see open rates and lots of other information. Pick an email from this, use it as a template to create your own, and off you go! See it at http://www.LizTomey.com/IMEmails

DFY Monthly Emails – This is such a killer resource. Not only do you get email templates RIGHT NOW, but it's updated each month with MORE email templates. This is for those of you in the Internet marketing/make money online niche only, but these are great email templates! See it at http://www.ThisKicksButt.com/DFYMonthlyEmails

Eagle Emails – Emails written by an actual email copywriter. What I really liked about this one is all the training it comes with. You learn how to use the emails, how to work with swipes and templates, etc. See it at http://www.ThisKicksButt.com/EagleEmails

Okay that's it for now… As I find and buy more of these I'll update this list and share the ones I like and that I think you can use here. Make sure you're on my list so you can get updates about this post!

If you have recommendations for email templates you like PLEASE let me know about them. πŸ™‚

My Thoughts On SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

I've been building and marketing online businesses for a long time. Since 2004 and in Internet years that's like 300 years. πŸ™‚

I'm kidding, but I have been around for quite a while and I have seen so many things come and go when it comes to marketing and traffic tactics.

Something that has been around for years that I get asked about all the time is SEO (search engine optimization).

My broad view on it is that it's a waste of your BUSINESS time, and it's basically something that a lot of people make money with in not so ethical ways.

Meaning…

1. Spending a bunch of time working on SEO'ing your entire site and having that as your main focus for traffic (to me) is a complete waste of time. Especially when you're in an ultra competitive niche.

With so many changes in the search engines you never know when you're site is going to get dropped in the results or totally removed. It's VERY time consuming to stay on top of things, and do things the right way.

2. People create crappy software that you THINK you need so THEY make the money. Often times the software doesn't work, or quits working.

3. People offer crappy SEO services that either don't work or they don't follow through on, and YOU don't get any results.

In niches outside of Internet marketing I have a very simple strategy.

I setup a content site that is related to a broad niche that my niche is in.

Example: I have a health (broad niche) content site, but I'm in little niches in the health niche and the site only has content on these niches.

I then focus on long tail keywords and create a piece of content for the site just on these long tail keywords. I have anywhere from 5-10 content pieces (blog posts) created for the content site PER long tail keyword.

I focus PER piece of content in getting it ranked.

My content site is also on a totally different server with a totally different hosting company than the money sites that this content points people to.

I also need to state that this is REALLY good content that keeps people reading. It's not trash created for $5 for 500 words.

AND… I don't spend much time at all on these content sites. I hire people to do it for me. Because the amount I pay people each month to do this stuff for me, I make more money back (MOST of the time) each month. It doesn't make sense for me to do the SEO myself.

This keeps me from having to stay on top of what is and isn't working for SEO, and keeps me from buying crappy stuff related to SEO.

You wont see me teach SEO.

I'd rather spend my time optimizing videos for YouTube search or optimizing my Pins for Pinterest search because I get way more traffic from that stuff anyway.

Side Note: If you want to learn Pinterest marketing from me click here. If you want to learn YouTube marketing from me click here.

So… That's my two cents on SEO.

I've created this post for two reasons…

1. I get asked my thoughts on SEO so much that I needed a place to post a full answer so I can send people here when they ask.

2. As a discussion piece and based on comments here I will expand on what I've covered here, so… Use the comments below and let me know of any questions or comments that you have and I will update this post as needed.

Stop Trying To Be Awesome On YouTube!

I don't know about you, but I have consumed a lot of information over the years on getting traffic from YouTube, and it LOOKS really hard.

There's just so much you have to know, and so many technical skills you have to have, and all this equipment, and a great place to shoot videos, and on and on and on.

It's enough to make your brain melt out of your ears from information overload!

I truly thought it would be hard until I just started actually DOING it.

Here's the deal…

You don't have to have a bunch of expensive equipment to get started.

All that stuff about lighting, big expensive cameras, a “cool” looking space to shoot your videos, and all that stuff is important, and your videos WILL be better, but when you're just starting out all you need to do is pay attention to the light you're in and use your cell phone to shoot the videos.

You can shoot great videos with a cell phone, and a cheap video editing app.

As time goes on, you will get the “cool video” stuff down, and that's when you start upgrading to better equipment and software. You don't have to have it ALL to get started though.

Here's a few tips for getting started easily with your video creation…

If you're at home you can shoot your videos in a well lit room. Just walk around doing a practice video until you find a spot that doesn't throw shadows on you.

Or if you can find natural light by a window that's even better. You'll find that certain times of the day are better than others for good lighting. Test this at different times of the day.

Once you find a good spot and the right time of day to record in, you can use your cell phone and a tripod or “selfie stick” for it to hold it steady. Don't be a “shaky” video creator. πŸ™‚

That's it… Just start there.

Now here is where your focus needs to be when you get started. These things are the MOST important parts of using YouTube for traffic…

1. Having a great looking channel that is optimized for your audience.

2. Knowing what videos your audience wants to view.

3. Knowing how to make sure your videos are optimized so that your audience finds them when searching on YouTube.

These are the things you need to focus on learning if you're just getting started.

You don't have to be AWESOME to get started, you just need to start learning and using the the three things I just listed. Those are the real keys to success with getting traffic from YouTube.

Once you've done 10-20 videos then you can start upping your video game. Invest in a few pieces of equipment, find a great video editing software, and start making your videos better.

Every time you do a video, or educate yourself about making better videos, you're going to get better and better at it, but pay attention to the things that matter the most to get you started.

Simply put… Stop trying to be awesome on YouTube, for now. πŸ™‚

If you'd like to learn everything you need to know to start getting traffic with YouTube, I highly recommend that you go through the YouTube Traffic Takeover Workshop atΒ https://www.LearningIM.com/youtube-traffic-takeover-workshop

8 Profitable Email Ideas To Send To Your Email List

You're sitting at your computer trying to think of an email to send to your list, and absolutely nothing comes to you.

How many times has that happened to you?

I've been using email marketing for a very long time, and to this day I still time struggle with what I should send to my list other than a promotional offer or my latest blog post.

Today I looked through my email stats and picked out what emails have done the best for me over the years and I came up with 8 winners. You can use any of these 8 ideas to create your own email to send to your list.

Let's get started…

Email 1: The Q&A Email

Do you have questions that come in from your readers? Take a question, answer it, but send the question along with your answer as an email to your entire list.

Put in some serious effort answering the question because if one person has that question there are probably a lot of people who have that question or a lot of people who don't even know they need to know that information.

You could put a call to action in this email, invite your readers to send you questions, etc.

Email 2: The Tools Emails

Are there a few to several tools that you use in your niche? List them out, describe what each one is used for, and create an email to your readers with your list of tools. You could make this a profitable email by getting your affiliate link for the tools if the tools you use have an affiliate program available.

I do this and send out the same email (I update it if there are any changes.) once every 6 months. This is an email you can use over and over as you use new tools, change tools, and get new readers.

Email 3: The How Can I Help Email

People joined your list for something. Maybe it was a discount for your store, maybe it was to get a free cheatsheet, or 1 of 1,000,000 other things. But there is something you can do to help your readers. Don't know what it is? Then ask them!

Create an email to check in on your readers and ask them if there is anything you can do to help them. This shows you care and establishes trust with your readers which is a HUGE key to getting them to buy from you.

Email 4: The Quick Tip Email

Can you think of something quick you could tell your readers that would help them? Type up a short email with your tip in it and send it out.

I recently did this with a new Facebook friend's list manager I found. It's free to use, I loved it, so I did a very short video on how to use it, and sent out an email to my list with why they should be doing it and a link to the video. Super easy and they loved me for it.

Email 5: The Featured Content Email

Do you have a blog or a place on the Internet where you create and post your content? Then take your top 3-5 pieces of content, create an email briefly describing each piece of content with links to them, and send it to your list.

You could also do it by topic. I'm currently working on an email that will point my readers to my best email marketing blog posts. My blog posts always point to something that make me money so the email should bring some sales in, AND show my people my deep knowledge.

Email 6: The Preview Email

If you're currently working on a product or service that you want to launch or if your network marketing program has some updates you could send out a preview email to your list.

Talk about what's coming, take pictures or videos if you can, and send out a preview email.

Email 7: The Rate Me Email

You need to keep your finger on the pulse of your email list and the best way to do that is… ask them what they think.

You can put together an email telling your readers that you're trying to help them with XYZ, and then ask them to rate their experience with you.

You could do that with a simple feedback form, or any of the hundreds of tools out there that will allow you to do that. This is a great way to work with your list and make sure you're meeting their needs!

Email 8: The Success Story Email

Do you have a success story about yourself that is related to your niche? Maybe it's related to your product or maybe it's related to a product you're an affiliate for. Type up your success story and email it to your list. This could encourage them to buy what made you successful or simply inspire them. Either way you're helping them!

Okay so there you go… 8 different emails that you can use to send an email to your list. Pick one and email your list right now!

Need more help with writing emails? Then I highly recommend you pick up the My Email Templates package that has 101 fill-in-the-blank email templates in it to help you to start creating emails that get people to open up their emails, read them, and click on the links inside. These will help you create any kind of email you want and quickly! You can grab access to the My Email Templates package at http://www.MyEmailTemplates.com

How To Write A Welcome Email Sequence For New Subscribers

Good job! If you're reading this then you've done the work! You've created something to get people on your email list. Now what do you send them?

Well the first thing you need to do is create a “Welcome Email Sequence” that will allow you to on-board your new prospects.

Getting everything set up is only 1/3 the battle.

Another 1/3 of the battle is getting your people to know, like, and trust you.

Side Note: So you're not wondering what the other 1/3 is, it's getting traffic to your email list building page and getting prospects to actually opt-in to your email list. πŸ˜‰Β

Why do you want them to do that?

So they will do the things you want like open your emails, click on your links, signup for things you want them to signup for, buy your products, and anything else you want.

If you get your welcome email sequence right you can have a tribe of people who love you and do what you want them to do.

Don't abuse this new super power. πŸ˜‰

Okay so you might be asking what an email sequence is?

It's exactly what it says it is. A sequence of emails that a prospect gets in an order of your choosing to welcome them into your business.

Side Note: You'll need an autoresponder to pull this off. If you're building your list you probably already have one of these. πŸ™‚

You write your emails and then you load them into your autoresponder.

There are all kinds of email sequences you can create (you can find templates for a different email sequence templates by clicking here), but today I want to talk specifically about a welcome email sequence.

Let's go over the must have emails…

Email 1: The Welcome Email

If you promised your prospect something for joining your email list then this is the email where you want to give it to them. Be it a download page or a link directly to what you offered.

I also recommend giving a little blurb about what they should expect from you going forward.

You can state how often you'll email, content you'll cover, other free things they'll get etc. Your blurb needs to make them WANT to stay on your list and NOT unsubscribe once they've gotten what they were promised. You want them to read the rest of your email sequence and any other emails you ever send them.

Next…

Email 2: The Reminder Email

In the second email I send to my new prospects I usually send it 24 hours after they have gotten the first one and I use it as a reminder email.

I remind them of whatever they signed up for and tell them how to get it again. I then tell them I'm doing this just to ensure that they got what they were promised. I do care that they get what they were promised and this shows them that I care. That helps with the trust aspect.

In this email I also give a little blurb about how I can help them which will make them again want to stay on my list and open my emails.

Hot Tip: You don't have to write pages of content for these emails. “Blurbs” or “chunks of information” is all you need. They don't have all day and unless you're REALLY entertaining they're not going to read a big long email anyway. Keep it short and simple. You can send these people multiple emails with your multiple “blurbs” in them. To get people to know how you can help them and get to know you.

Email 3: The Know You Email

Okay this is when it gets tricky because people really don't want to know anything about you. All they care about is what you can do for them. There's nothing wrong with that.

So we have to get creative and slip in a blurb here and there about our life while also giving them what they want. Although they don't want to know your life story really, slipping in relatable information about you will get them to know and like you. Those are key things, remember?

I recommend you start off your email with a little blurb about you.

What were you doing right before this email? What are you going to do after this email? How has your day gone (keep is positive)?

Example:

Hi there!

So before I head off and go pick up my son from school I wanted to send you this quick email. You gotta love sitting in the car line at school, said no one ever. πŸ™‚ I can't wait for this kid to get his drivers license. Can you relate to being a busy parent, too? I wouldn't trade it for the world, but some days. Whew!

Anyway I wanted to send you (this thing to help you with this thing).

/End Example

There's a short example for you.

The formula here is a small blurb about you + something to help your prospect = Your prospect starts to know and like you which is going to lead to making you money. People buy from people they know, like, and trust. I might have mentioned that a few times now. πŸ˜‰

Next email…

Email 4: The Story Email

Now it's time to really get into the mind of your prospect. Bring in a short story that is about you and related to what you're helping them with.

For example in one of my “story emails” I talk about losing my mom and how having my own business allowed me to take care of her while she was sick. A very true story, but I use it to really hit people with how having your own online business can give you freedom when you NEED it and you want it. This is all related to my niche. You need to use this tactic for your niche.

Something I want to mention before we continue on. You don't have to use email 5 right away. You could do a couple of Email 3 and Email 4 in a row, and then incorporate Email 5 from below.

Email 5: The Trust Email

In this email you need to get your prospects to trust you. As they get to know and like you they will start to trust you, but you need to do more to get them to really trust you.

This is the last key in getting them to spend money with you or signup for things you recommend.

So, how can you establish trust in this email?

* Do you have social proof to backup your expertise or your offers? Then take screenshots and share those in an email. Do this in a conversational way and not in a “oh look at me” tone.

* Always tell them how to get in contact with you and be prompt on replies. People want to deal with people they at least “feel” they can contact. By having an easy and fast way to contact you, that will make your people trust you.

* Create an email that talks about mistakes you've made related to the topics you talk to your prospect about and be very transparent with them about the mistakes. They need to see you're a human too.

* Do a “behind the scenes” email. Show pictures and videos of your life that is related to the topics you talk to your prospect about.

Anything you can think of to create trust needs to go into your trust email, but only use one option per trust email you create.

I do recommend you do at least one more Trust Email here before ending your welcome email sequence.

A few more tips before we wrap things up here.

There is no hard and fast rule for how many emails should be in your “Welcome Email Sequence”. Maybe it's 5 or 10 or even more. Create a “Welcome Email Sequence” that WORKS. That's what matters. I want to give you some more ideas of other things you can mention in your “Welcome Email Sequence”:

1. Tell them to create a folder in their email to keep all of your emails in. This will have them looking for your emails and keeping them to go back to.

2. Introduce your social channels to your prospects and encourage them to follow you on the ones they use.

3. If you have a page that has all of your products and services listed you could mention it to introduce them to your products and services.

4. Create a “recap” email after your last email in the sequence. This email could include what they signed up for, what to expect from you, how to keep up with you, etc. It's simply a recap email of all the emails you've sent them in your welcome sequence.

This kind of email works well because things you tell your prospect don't always stick with them. You've got to talk about them repeatedly.

5. Unexpected freebies that are related to your niche. Everyone loves a good surprise! What can you give your prospects to help them?

By the time your prospects get through your welcome email sequence they will know, like, and trust you and be ready to do the things you want them to do.

The “Welcome Email Sequence” is the secret sauce that so many miss in their email marketing. Make sure you create the best one you can and review it from time to time as you become more knowledgeable and edit as needed.

I wish you much success in your email marketing journey. If you'd like save a tone of time and use fill-in-the-blank templates for every email sequence you'll ever need I highly recommend the My Email Templates package at http://www.MyEmailTemplates.comΒ
